Battle of the Books (BOB) is a nationwide literacy program established to encourage students to read a variety of age-appropriate books. The overall goal is to foster a lifelong love of reading while supporting higher academic achievement among club members. BOB promotes team-building skills through an ultimate head-to-head battle of knowledge on 20 preselected books. Our team of 4th and 5th Grade students spend months reading these books, understanding the story elements, and committing details to memory in preparation for the big battle. On competition day in the spring, teams are divided into groups and face off against other schools in an elimination tournament.

Campus Ministry provides 7th and 8th Grade students an opportunity to put our love for God and others joyfully in action, including helping with Adopt-a-Family, Operation Rice Bowl, and the Memorial Mass; leading the daily school-wide Angelus prayer; sponsoring Bake Sale fundraisers to assist those in need; assisting younger students in the classroom; serving as Mass ushers; distributing monthly prayer cards; lunchtime prayer; and being positive role models on campus. May our hearts always be open to the heart of our Father to love and be merciful to those in need.

Choir students practice with their grade-level group and perform at Christmas concerts, Christmas caroling events, Mass, the Spring Concert, and other events on campus. In recent years, they have sung the National Anthem on the field at Angel Stadium. The older groups have participated in choral festivals and performed on stage at Disney California Adventure.

Tiny Trebles (1st and 2nd Grade students) choir introduces students to the basics of singing as they have fun signing songs and playing music games.

Serra Singers (3rd and 4th Grade students) read music in rehearsals and further their love for singing in choir.

Serranade (5th through 8th Grade students) choir works on singing advanced harmonies as well as music in other languages.

Homework Club is an after-school program and recommended for students who:

  • are challenged to complete their homework in a timely manner
  • need additional assistance with assignments
  • may forget to do the assigned homework
  • tend to turn in homework after the due date
  • may turn in the assignments without completing the work

Class sizes are limited to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure that students are receiving the assistance they need. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and classes will be limited to 12 students in Grades 1-2 and 18 students in Grades 3-8. Enrollment is flexible and students move in and out during the year, so you are encouraged to add your name to the waiting list if your desired grade level is full.

The fee for Homework Club is a FLAT RATE, regardless of:

  • whether your child attends one, two, or three days each week
  • holidays and school breaks
  • absences or illnesses
  • $110 per month for Grades 3-8
  • $85 per month for Grades 1-2

There is no Homework Club when school is not in session (i.e., holidays, teacher in-service days, etc.), or after school on any minimum days. Whenever we have a full day on a Wednesday, Homework Club will be available.
