Battle of the Books (BOB) Club
What is BOB: It is a voluntary reading incentive program for 4th and 5th Grade students. The purpose is to foster a LOVE of READING and to encourage students to read, analyze and discuss a variety of good books at Virtual Book Club meetings and have fun while competing at a local tournament with peers. Each school participating may have up to two teams of five participants. All questions will be asked by a judge and will begin with “In which book…” and the answer you provide will be the title earning 3 pts and author earning an additional 2 pts of the appropriate book. The team with the most points at the end of the Tournament wins a trophy for their school.
When does BOB take place: We will have weekly virtual meetings on selected day(s) and times starting October 2020 until April 2021. The calendar of meetings and important dates will be located on the BOB/Library Schedule. Students are required to attend as ALL meetings. St. Margaret’s Episcopal School is hosting a virtual tournament and will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021. (Time to be determined)
Who can participate in BOB: All interested 4th and 5th grade students are allowed to attend Book Club meetings, All students planning on attending the Book Club meetings must see Ms. Bummer in the library to sign up or contact her by email at ebummer@serraschool.org
