What is a Germ?

Germs are tiny living creatures that can only be seen using a microsope. A microscope is a tool that we use to make small things look bigger.

Germs come in many shapes and sizes. Most germs are shaped like rods, balls, or spirals. What shapes are these germs?

Germs can be good or bad for our bodies. Bad germs can attack our bodies and make us feel sick. Have you ever had an earache or a sore throat? Germs were busy attacking part of your body.

Not all germs are bad for us. Some good germs can be found in yogurt, cheese, and laundry detergents. Medicines can be made from good germs.
