John Tyler

By: Dylan Redding

John Tyler was more success in international affairs. The signing of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty settled the Northeast Boundary Dispute which was a long and bitter conflict with Great Britain over the border between Maine and Canada. Two years later John Tyler opened the way for trade between China and the United States. Another thing that John Tyler did was in the fall of 1843 he attempted to form a third party drawn from moderate Whigs and Democrats to confirm the independence of Texas.
