President John Tyler was a great American because he made many contributions to our political country. He had great leadership skills which probably came from fathering his fourteen children. He belonged to the Whig Party but at one point even they were against him. He had to battle with many different people fighting for what he believed in. He had to face the want of impeachment from his own party, which he overcame. He never gave up and was a strong leader. Although he was not re-elected I think he should have been. Overall, John Tyler was a great president with many values.
