Theodore Roosevelt
By: John McGrory
I think Theodore Roosevelt was a great president because he worked for the people to run the government of the people. He was our 26th president and is most remembered for the “Teddy” bear. The story is that when he was on a hunting trip, Teddy saw a bear cub but refused to shoot it. The story was in the newspaper and a local toymaker made the bear in honor of Teddy. He also constructed the Panama Canal which was built to make it easy for ships that were carrying goods to go from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean to transport the goods more quickly in case they are under navel pursuit. Theodore Roosevelt was an honest man and always apologized when he made a mistake. He was never afraid to show emotion. When his wife and mother died on the same day, he deeply grieved for a few days. He was a family-based, hard working man even to the end of his days.
