John Tyler
By: Erin Smith
John Tyler was and still is of great importance. Even though John did not make any huge changes, he stands out in society for being a fair and excellent leader. He began known as his “Accidency”, because he did not run for president. He ran for Vice President and won. The actual President was killed just 1 month into his presidency. After serving in the Virginia militia, House of Representatives, and the Senate, he became the President. In my opinion, John Tyler was a good man because he signed a bill that protected northern manufacturers and signed a treaty that ended the Canadian boundary dispute. Although these changes were not that crucial to the survival of our nation, these changes provided us with some help that could help us in our later years. Recognized for some of his small actions, I think John Tyler is one of the greatest presidents this great nation has seen.
