St. Peter

                              By Rachel Roesgen

  1. Life
    1. Like his brother, St. Andrew, he worked as a fisherman on Lake Genesareth as a native of Bethsaida.
    2. Andrew introduced Peter to Christ and then Peter became a disciple.
    3. St. Peter was crucified upside-down on the Vatican hill because he thought he wasn't worthy enough to die they same way Christ did.
    4. All Christians/Catholics claim him a saint but protestants do not.
  2. What virtues he models
    1. He modeled truth because he baptized and preached to non-Catholics and most of his life he read the Acts of the Apostles and the New Testament.
    2. Peter also modeled loyalty when he participated in the different important events in Jesus' life.
    3. Lastly he modeled faith when immediately bowed down to our Lord after He performed a miracle.
  3. His importance to our Church
    1. Peter was in many important events of Jesus' life. For example he helped put together the Last Supper, played a major part in the Passion, and was by Jesus at the Transfiguration and then denied Jesus 3 times, and he went to the tomb to weep for our Lord.
    2. He also brought the Gospel and preached to the Gentiles, and baptized the Roman Pagan Cornelius.
    3. Lastly, he was the first Apostle to perform miracles in the name of our Lord.
