St. Peter

Early life

Peter is a native of Bethsaida near Lake Tiberias.

Peter is called on by Jesus to become a disciple
and travels with Jesus most of his life.

He organized the Last Supper and played a large role in the passion of
Jesus Christ.

What virtues he models

He modeled modesty. He did this by not wanting to sacrifice himself as Christ did because he said he was unworthy.

He modeled faith. He did this by always being by Jesus' side and always being a disciple.
He even stayed a disciple after Jesus died

He modeled commitment. He did this by always being a disciple of Jesus, even
when he died and there was little hope of his return.
He was the first to begin
preaching in the name of Christ after his death.
- He models
love. He did this by always being with Christ and not betraying him. He also
helped Jesus and wept for him when He died.

His importance to our Church

Peter was the first pope in the church.

Peter played many parts in the Last Supper and the life of Christ.
He was with our Lord most of the time and was always by His side.

Peter brought the entire gospel to the Gentiles and was the first apostle to begin to make miracles in the name of Lord.
- He gave us more information for the bible on the life and teachings of
Jesus, which will help us learn much more about Him.
