St. Peter

1. Early life
   1. Peter was a native of Bethsaida, near Lake Tiberias.
   2. Peter was the son of John and worked like his brother St. Andrew, as a fisherman on Lake Genesareth.
   3. Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus and Christ called Peter to become a disciple.
2. What virtues he models
   1. He models Pride and he showed it by not wanting to be killed the same way as Jesus.
   2. He models Perseverance because he never gave up on teaching Gods word.
   3. He models Humbleness and he showed it by asking to be crucified upside-down be cause he wasn't worthy to die the way Jesus did.
3. His importance to our Church
   1. Simon Peter or Cephas, the first pope.
   2. He was the Prince of the Apostles, and founder, with St. Paul, of the see of Rome.
   3. He was the rock that our church was built on.
