St. Peter

 

  1. His life
    1. Peter was recognized as the Prince of the Apostles and the first Supreme Pontiff
    2. Peter was crucified on the Vatican Hill upside down because he Didn't think he was worthy to die in the same way as the Lord.
    3. He helped organize the Last Supper and played a major role in the events of the Passion.
    4. His symbols include an inverted cross, a boat, and the cock.
  2. What virtues he models
    1. Love: Peter had a love for the Eucharist, and a love for God.
    2. Loyalty: Peter was loyal to Jesus by going to visit him at the tomb when he had died. 
    3. Leadership: Peter shows leadership by being a good example for all the other disciples
    4. Commitment: Peter shows commitment for his work by living his life according to Jesus and the Bible.
    5. Holiness: Peter is Holy because he always went to mass and was Jesus' best friend.
    6. Faithfulness: Peter is faithful to God by spreading his word and keeping holy the Lord's day.
  3. His importance to our Church
    1. Peter was given the keys to the kingdom of heaven by Jesus.
    2. After the decent of the Holy Spirit, Peter was the first one to speak to the crowd that had gathered.
    3. He was the first disciple to ever perform a miracle in the name of the Lord. He also brought the Gospel to the Gentiles.
    4. Peter stood as the unquestionable head of the Apostles, his position made evident in the Acts.
    5. His feast day is June29th
