Was a fisherman on Lake Genesareth like his brother St. Andrew.

Peter became a disciple of Jesus after Andrew introduced him.

Peter was at Jesus' side at the Transfiguration, the raising of Jairus' daughter, and the Agony of the Garden of Gethsemane.

What virtues he models

Love: He loved Jesus by being at his side all of the time.

Faith: He believed in Jesus when he heard that he ascended from the dead. So he ran to the tomb and saw that Jesus was not there.

Humility: He got crucified upside down because he felt he was not worthy to die the same way the Lord did.

His importance to our Church

St. Peter is considered the "rock" that the catholic church was founded on.

He helped to create and organize the Last Supper

He was the first pope ever.
