St. Peter

  1. His life

    1. Peter was a fisherman and a native of Bethsaida. When Jesus was taken away Peter cut his left ear. He he was asked if he was a follower of Jesus, Peter denied it. He denied Jesus three time just as Jesus had said.

    2. Peter met Jesus through his brother Andrew. When Peter and Andrew were fishing they caught huge amounts of fish. Soon afterward, Peter went to Jesus and praised him. He then became a disciple of Jesus and helped spread the word of God.

    3. Peter and another disciple went to the tomb after Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus appeared before Peter, glorified.

  2. What virtues he models

    1. Loyalty - Peter stayed loyal to Jesus and God. He stayed by Jesus' side most of the time and helped spread the word of God. Even when Jesus left him, Peter still continued to spread the word of God. He baptized many people and preformed miracles in the name of the Lord. After Jesus help peter catch fish, Peter became a follower of Jesus and never left his side.

    2. Faith - Peter demonstrated his faith in God and Jesus. Peter obeyed all of Jesus' commands and never doubted Jesus. Peter showed his faith in God by believing in his word and preaching the word to others. He did not doubt God nor did he turn his back from God. When Peter was imprisoned by King Herod, he was guided by an angel who helped him escape.

    3. Courage - Peter had the courage to keep preaching the Word of God. He traveled to many pagan cities and baptized many. Peter had the courage to stay loyal to God even if that meant death. He was eventually crucified on Vatican Hill.

  3. His importance to our Church

    1. Peter is important to our church because he continued to spread the word of God after Jesus went to heaven.

    2. Peter is also important to our church because he is recognized as the prince of the apostles and he led the apostles after Jesus ascended into Heaven .

    3.  Peter was essential in bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles. He is known as the rock of the church.
