St. Peter

  1. His Life
    1. Peter was a native born in Bethsaida near Lake Tiberius
    2. He worked a a fisherman with his brother St. Andrew
    3. His brother introduced him to Jesus. Jesus offered Peter to become one of His disciples. Jesus renamed Peter "Cephas" which means the Rock.
  2. What virtues he models
    1. Faith
      Peter truly believed that Jesus was the Son of God.
    2. Strength
      Peter had strength in God. He put all his faith in God when he died. He had the strength to tell the soldiers that he wanted to die upside down.
    3. Courage
      He was crucified on Vatican hill. He said he was unworthy to die like Jesus, so he died upside down on the cross
  3. His importance to our Church
    1. Peter, in his time, brought the Word of God to the Gentiles and to many other people.
    2. St. Peter was the first pope. He is named the Prince of the Apostles. With St. Paul, he strengthened Christianity and the faithfulness towards God.
    3. St. Peter carried out many miracles as Jesus did.  
    4. Peter was the first disciple that Jesus appeared to after Jesus' resurrection
