St. Peter

  1. Early life

    1. Peter was from Bethsaida. He lived near Lake Tiberias. He was the Son of John.

    2. He has a brother. Peter's brother's name is Andrew. Both men were fishermen. Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus.

    3. Peter was one of the prominent diciples. He was the spokesperson for the 12 Diciples. He was on the inner circle with James and John.

  2. What Virtues He Models:

    1. Denial/Loyalty: When Peter was asked if he knew Jesus or was with Jesus, he denied it three times. Then he felt so bad that he died upside down on the cross because he didn't feel he was worthy enough to die the same way Jesus did.

    2. Trust/Faith: Peter shows faith and trust towards God when he sees the figure coming towards him. Then he hears Jesus' voice, and has faith and trust, and he believes that it is truly Jesus.

    3. Love: The way Peter shows love is when he becomes one of the followers of Jesus, and he begins to truly love and believe in Jesus.

  3. His Importance To Our Church

    1. St. Peter is considered the "rock" on which the Catholic Church was founded on. Jesus also gave Peter the name "Cephas", which means "the rock".

    2. Peter helped to create and organize the Last Supper, and played a huge role in the Passion of Christ.

    3.  Peter was the first pope. That is important to our church because the Pope is the leader of our church, and is the firmest beliver in our religion.
