   1. Peter was a fisherman like his brother Andrew. Andrew is the one that introduced peter to Jesus.
   2. Peter was a native of Bethsaida near Tiberius, and he was the son of John.
   3. Jesus called Peter to be a disciple and gave him the name Cephas, or rock.

   1. Loyalty
   2. Humility
   3. Courage
3. His importance to our Church
   1. Peter is important because he was the first pope.
   2.  He is an example of Christian faith. 
   3.   He literally became the foundation of the church.
