St. Peter

  1. His life
    1. Peter denied Jesus three times just like Jesus knew.
    2. He cut off the ear of the high priest when they arrested Jesus.
    3. When Jesus rose from the dead, peter and some other disciples were the first to witness it.
  2. What virtues he models
    1. Leadership- He was the first apostle to perform miracles and acted as a leader to the apostle after the death of Jesus.
    2. Courage- Peter cut off the ear of the high priest because they arrested Jesus. He stood up to the high priest to protect his Lord.
    3. Faith- Peter acknowledged the Jesus by calling Him, the Messiah, the Son of the living God, etc. Jesus responded saying, "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven . . ."
  3. His importance to our Church

       A.  Peter was one of the apostles of Jesus Christ.

      B.  Peter was a role model to the apostles and he led them after the death of Jesus.

      C.  He is recognized in the church as the Prince of the Apostles and the first Supreme Pontiff
