He appointed the replacement of Judas Iscariot; he spoke first to the crowds that had assembled after the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost; he was the first Apostle to perform miracles in the name of the Lord; and he rendered judgment upon the deceitful Ananias and Sapphira.
Peter was introduced to Jesus by his brother. Jesus then called Peter to be a disciple.
He helped organize the Last Supper and played a major role in the events of the Passion.
When Jesus appointed him The rock of the church,
He told him that whatever he does on earth, effects Heaven above.

Jesus also gave Simon a new name: Cephas, or the rock
"... you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church...
Faith- Although Peter denied Jesus three times, he still believed in Jesus. Even when Jesus was looked down upon, Peter stuck by Jesus' side.

His importance to our Church
After Jesus died, Peter took charge of the Disciples and then began to preach Jesus' teachings.
Peter preached to the Gentiles which then created the "universal" church.
Peter helped set up the Last Supper and played a major role in the
Passion of Christ.
St. Peter was the first pope and prince of the
apostles.
