Renaissance means rebirth in French. It all started because of the Black Death.The period was characterized by scholars, artists, and scientists.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The Renaissance occurred in 1450 to the 1600s, in Florence, Italy. It spread through out Europe.
The most influential people during this time were musicians, artists, and scientists because they all contributed to the Renaissance era by creating the Printing Press. Artists painted many famous paintings.
Leonardo Da Vinci was born in 1452, in the little town of Vinci, Italy. He painted the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. I chose this person because he painted some of the greatest paintings in the world.
Jacob Obrecht was born in 1450 Bergen-op-Zoom, Netherlands. He composed about 24 masses and 22 motets. I chose this person because he contributed many compositions to the Renaissance era.
- Christopher Marlowe was born in 1564, in Canterbury. He wrote many dramatic works such as, The Massacre at Paris and The Jew of Malta. I chose this person because he was known for his dramatic writings.
- Galileo Galilei was born in 1564, in Pisa, Italy. He was a mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher and he improved the telescope. I chose this person because he made many scientific discoveries.
How the Renaissance affects us.
The renaissance affected us because many of the famous paintings painted in the renaissance inspired many artists of today. Mathematicians also created the square root symbol.
