What was the Renaissance?

Renaissance means “Rebirth” in French. It is characterized by scholars, artist and scientist building on classical Greek and Roman Ideas to make no advances in science and the arts. With the invention of the printing press and reopening trade routes between China and Europe, the world experienced economical changes.

Art and Architecture

Michelangelo was an influential man in the Renaissance. He was born March 6, 1475 In Toscana, Italy. He was painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer. Made the famous painting on the Sistine Chapel and famous sculpture, The Statue of David. I chose Michelangelo because he is a famous painter, he created the ceiling of The Sistine Chapel. He is a roll model to many artist today, to many people, including me.

Music

Alexander Agricola, born on 1445, in Germany. He was a singer, song-writer, and musician. He was known in Germany, Italy, France, and Naples. Before he died, he was in a motet, wrote songs for mass, I chose Alexander Agricola because he invented many songs for mass, which that is important to the Catholic Church.

Literature

Saint Thomas More, born on February 7, 1478, in London, England. He was an English lawyer, author, statesmen, humanist scholar, and occupied public offices 1935 He was canonized as a saint by Pope Benedict. I chose Thomas More because he was a important man to Europe, he was educated  with many opportunities. He was so important that he was canonized by the Pope, which is amazing.

Math and Science

Leonardo da Vinci was a scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, and writer. He was born in Vinci, Italy, on April 15, 1452. His most favorite science drawing is the   Vitruvian Man; it showed a man moving his arms and legs. I chose Leonardo da Vinci because he was the best sculptor and artist in the world. He is known for his famous painting is The Mona Lisa, which is a master piece.

How the Renaissance affects us.

The Renaissance affect us by giving us many trade routes for traders, clothes, material, foods, props, grain, and many more exports. The type of painting style such as perspective in paintings to make the picture is looking at you. The invention of flying from Leonardo de Vinci, the beginning of Christian Humanism, and many artists that influence us today.
