What was the Renaissance?
The word renaissance means
"rebirth" in French.
It is
characterized by scholars, artists, and scientists building on classical Greek
and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and the arts.
When and where did the Renaissance begin? The Renaissance occurred in the1300s-1600s.The Renaissance occurred in Florence Italy and then spread throughout Europe.
Influential People The most influential people during the Renaissance were bankers, scholars, artist, scientists, and mathematicians. Bankers made cities wealthy like Florence, scholars founded new theories, arties made paintings with perspective, scientists found out that the earth revolved around the sun, and mathematicians made new symbols like the square root.
Art and Architecture Michelangelo
He was born in 1475 and died in 1564. I chose him because he made some of the greatest piece of art in the world. One of the contributions he made was to the church and it was painting the churches and adding amazing sculptures.
Music Giovanni Palestrina
Giovanni Palestrina was born on March 4, 1525 and died February 2, 1594. I choose him because he was one of the most important composers during the Renaissance. One of the contributions he made was his great motets, madrigals, and masses.
Literature Dante Alighieri
Dante was born in May 14, 1265 and died in September 1321. I choose Dante because he was one of the first people to write in Italian which was his countries language. One of his contributions to the Renaissance was write in his home language.
Math and Science Leonardo Da Vinci
He was born in April 15, 1452 and died May 2, 1519. He was an artist, sculptor, and the great genius who ever lived. Some of his contributions are detailed drawings of plants animals and machines in his sketchbook and made many inventions like the parachute and a clock. I chose him because he is a genius and an amazing inventor.
How the Renaissance affects us.
An event that affected us
was the split in the church. A discover that affected us was that the Earth
revolves around the sun. A decision that affected us was King Henry split from
the church.
