Influential People

The most influential people during the Renaissance were artists, musicians, scientists, mathematicians, architects, philosophers, and politicians. They were influential people because they had theories, ideas, and interests which affected the world forever. For example, if Galileo hadn’t discovered the laws of motion we would still believe the earth was flat. Without Christopher Columbus, we would not have known about North America. Many other people contributed to the Renaissance and without them we would not be as educated as we are today.

Art and Architecture

Leonardo da Vinci:  He lived in Vinci, Italy. He was born in 1452 and died in 1519. He was considered a Renaissance man because of his many abilities in different fields of work. He was primarily a painter. Two of his most famous works are the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. I chose Leonardo da Vinci because of his many talents and I thought he would be interesting.

Music

Guillaume Dufay: He lived in Cambria, France. He was born in 1399 and died in 1474. He was a famous composer of the renaissance era. He created all types of music. Some of his greatest advancements were paths toward modern day harmonies and the use of third intervals. I chose Guillaume Dufay because of his many accomplishments and his wide range of music.

Literature

Niccolo Machiavelli: He was a later Italian writer who wrote a book called The Prince. He was also a politician. He didn’t care about what should work he cared about here and now. He was only interested in what really happened in both peace and war. He thought sometimes rulers had to be ruthless to be successful. I chose Niccolo Machiavelli because he was practical and didn’t care about other people’s ideas.

Math and Science

Galileo Galilei: He lived in Pisa. He was born in 1564 and died in 1642. He was one of the greatest scientists that ever lived. His greatest impact was the invention of the telescope and discovering the laws of motion. This changed the way people viewed the universe. I chose Galileo Galilei because he made a big difference in our world and I admire him.

How the Renaissance affects us  The Renaissance affects us because things that were discovered back then gave us many advances. Without these discoveries we would still think that the sun revolved around the earth and many other things like that.
