Reniassance means "rebirth". The Renaissance is characterized by scholars, artists and scientists building on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and the arts.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The Renaissance occurred in
the 1300’s in Florence, Italy.
The most influential people during the Renaissance were explorers because they found new trade routes increasing the trade for Europe.
Leonardo de Vinci was an influential person during the Renaissance period. He was an Italian painter, sculptor, and architect. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the “Renaissance Man”. His most famous works were the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. These to works of art have the position of being the most illustrated and most religious paintings of all time. The reason that I chose Leonardo De Vinci is because he was considered to be a genius of the Renaissance Period.
Guillaume Dufay was a Franco-Flemish composer and Music Theorist during the Renaissance. Guillaume was among some of the most influential composers of the 15th century. Dufay was born on August 5, 1397 in Berseel, Belgium. Almost all of the composers in the next generations took things from his style. The most important thing is that Dufay died decades before music printing came out. A lot of his music was sold in future generations. The reason I chose Guillaume Dufay is because when he thought about what he was going to write in his music he not only thought about his generation but also future generations.
Mikolage Rej was born in Zurawin, Poland. He didn’t get much of an education but he taught himself Latin literature. He was one of the best known Polish poets of the Renaissance. Mikolage was also a politician and a musician during this time period. He is considered one of the fathers of Polish literature. The reason that I chose Mikolage Rej is because he brought new forms of Literature to Poland.
Nicolaus Copernicus was born February 19, 1473 and died May 24, 1543. He was born in Torun. Copernicus was a Catholic Cleric, mathematician, astronomer, economist, jurist, and a physician. Nicolaus is known for his first modern formulation of the heliocentric theory of the solar system. This theory was spread to all educated people in Europe. The reason that I picked Nicolaus Copernicus was because he achieved many goals in different fields of work.
How the Renaissance affects us
The Renaissance affected us because Ideas from different countries came to America so our country had a wide variety of ideas. It also affected us by bringing America a larger amount of population. People from all different countries came to America because of the multitude of different activities. Somebody that affected us during the Renaissance is William Shakespeare because if he never made his plays we might not have theatre today. Movies that we all love to watch may have never been invented if Shakespeare didn't write his great works of Literature. Another man of greatness during this period is Marco Polo. If Marco Polo did not travel the Silk Road to get to China we would have never have found out how behind the rest of the world is in technology. If this happened many of our nations today would still be far behind China in technology. This shows that if people did not do what they did during this period are wo0ld would not be the same today.
