It is an era between the 14th and 16th centuries. It describes the intellectual
and economic changes that occurred in Europe. It is also characterized by
scholars, artists, and scientists who changed the era by Greek and Roman ideas
to make new advances in Europe. With the invention of the printing press and
reopening trade routes between China and Europe, Europe experienced cultural
growth. Also the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The Renaissance occurred in the 14 through 16 century time period and began in Florence, Italy. 1300-1600s
The
Renaissance occurred in Europe.
Merchants, musicians, and middle class citizens were influential people of the Renaissance because they changed the economy and overall build up of each city in Europe. Traders changed Europe because they traveled to each city and spread new ideas from place to place.
I chose Leonardo De Vinci because he is considered a renaissance man for his work in many fields. Mostly in his paintings though. Leonardo drew two very popular paintings including The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. I picked Leonardo de Vinci because he drew many inspiring paintings and many technological advancements
Tomas Victoria wrote the second most compositions despite many hardships including bankruptcy. He also wrote many compositions of Greek and Roman writings and influences in the past that were very influential at the time.
I chose Saint Thomas More because he was a leader of a humanist scholarly. He wrote many Catholic letters and is a martyr for his refusal to recognize King Henry VII as head of the Church ending his life by behead execution. His writings to the Church is admired even today as Catholics.
I chose John Napier because of his popularizing of the ever used decimal point. He also explained many theories using multiple paged tables and graphs. He made new formulas that we might not have today because of him. If we did not have those formulas we might have more trouble in math and science today.
How the Renaissance affects us.
The Renaissance is important to us today because we can learn to respect the classical music and its elegance. If the Renaissance never occurred we would never have paper or printers. The printing press affects us today by the fact having no printers and no way to print documents for books and writings. We'd also have no school packets or papers it'd all have to be on computers which would cost a fortune. If we didn't have a printing press, communication would be much more difficult and time consuming.
