What was the Renaissance?

            This period was characterized by Scholars, artist, and scientists building on classical Greek and Roman ideas top make new advances in science and in the art. With the invention of the printing press and the reopening trade routes between China and Europe, the world experienced economic, intellectual, and cultural growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.

    The word renaissance means “Re-birth” in French. It was originated in Florence Italy.

Influential People

Some influential people were artist because they painted in a new style called perspective. This new way painting helped to draw in a way that made everything look realistic, unlike old times wer all paintings looked flat.

Art and Architecture

             Leonardo da Vinci, He was a famous artist who was very talented. He was also an inventor                          but well known for his art. We still know his works and see them and he inspires many people. I chose him because he is awesome. He lived in Italy from 1452-1519.

Music

         Giovanni Palestrina, he was one of the Renaissance period's most important composers. He was an Italian man and he wrote mostly religious music. He also wrote motets, madrigals, and masses. He was born in Palestrina which is near Rome and he lived from 1525-1594. I chose him because he is a great composer.

Literature

 

           Dante Alighieri, His contribution was he was a great writer and we learned from him. One of his major works was The Divine Comedy. I chose him because he was the fist writer I saw in the text book. He lived from 1265-1321 in Florence.

Math and Science

            Zechariahs Janssen, He created the microscope in 1590. It was a compound microscope that had two lenses. He lived Dutch and he lived from 1580 to 1638. He and his father made and other resources say that his father may have created the first microscope and he took over the business and said he was the first creator.

How the Renaissance affects us.

                 Finding the new world by Christopher Columbus, The production of William Shakespeare-Romeo and Juliet. These all affected us because if we had not found the new world we not be here today and because of William Shakespeare people were inspired to do more with there lives and push themselves to do something great  like these great discoverers and poets ect.

We learned many things like music and art and technology and now we know about many things because of the genius people of the renaissance. The Renaissance taught us that we can do things if we really try because all the famous people from that era were very successful.
