It means
“rebirth” and refers to the era that followed Europe’s Middle Ages.
It is
characterized by intellectual economic changes in Europe. It also was
characterized by scholars, artists and scientists building on classical Greek
and Roman ideas. The invention called the printing press doubled books. That
allowed education to rise. The new trade routes from Europe to Asia helped trade
a lot. Also the emphasis on people was a new concept.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
It occurred in Europe through the 14th and 16th century.
Artists, Musicians, Kings, Scientists and Explorers were influential because of their remains and what they had done. The influential people changed economy and built monuments. They painted and sculpted their ideas to make works of art.
Leonardo De Vinci – He was born in 1452 to 1519. Leonardo was a genius of the Renaissance. He was a sculptor, painter, inventor, engineer, town planner and map maker. He painted the Last Supper and Mona Lisa. He was a great artist and influence to others.
Leonel Power lived from 1370 to June 5,1385. He was an English composer of the late Medieval and early Renaissance eras.
Niccolo Machiavelli – He was an Italian writer and politician. He wrote “The Prince” In which he advised leaders on how to rule.
Rene' Descartes - He lived from 1596 - 1650.He was a French Philosopher who believed that nothing should be accepted as true if it had not been proven. His ideas helped develop the scientific method.
How the Renaissance affects us.
It affects us by technology and government. Artists Painted and sculpted beautiful creations. Musicians impacted us today with their melodies. Kings impacted our society by their way of rule. Scientists created amazing invention for our use today. Explorers found new land and countries to civilize on.
