The word renaissance means “Re-birth” In French. The Period is characterized by scholars, artists, and scientists building on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and the arts. With the invention of the printing press and reopening trade routes between China and Europe, the world experienced economic, intellectual and cultural growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.

When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The renaissance occurred in the 1300’s. The Renaissance occurred in Florence, Italy and spread through out Europe during the 1300s and through the 1600s.
The most influential people in the Renaissance were the artists, inventors, sculptures and traders. They are the more influence people because even today we remember them for what they did. There was many influential people during this period of time. The MOST influential people was the explorers because they
Michelangelo- Michelangelo is a very famous painter. He was a very skilled painter, sculpture, poet, and designer. One of his most famous works is the painting of the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. I chose Michelangelo because when I went to Italy I saw the Sistine chapel.

Claudio Monteverdi – He is a composer who was in the Renaissance period AND the baroque period. Claudio’s music was had a lot of dynamics and very dramatic. He first published his songs at the age of 15! I chose to write about Claudio Monteverdi because he was not only in the Renaissance period but he was also in the end of the Baroque.

Dante Alighieri- Dante wrote all of his novels and stories in Italian while most f the author of that time wrote in Latin. Dante’s best work is called The Divine Comedy. It describes his life threw the afterlife. I chose Dante Alighieri because he chose to write in Italian while all of the other authors chose to write in Latin.

Andreas Veslius- was one the most famous math and science during the Renaissance. His best work was called De humani corporis fabrica libri septem printed in 1543. Andreas drew the very 1st skeleton drawing. I chose to write about Andreas because

How the Renaissance affects us.
The Renaissance affects
us in many ways. If the Renaissance period wasn't here, we would have the art ,
literature, music, and many more things that we have today. All of the famous
people from the Renaissance would be famous anymore, because we wouldn't of even
remembered anything that happened. We wouldn't even have the inventions that
were made. We wouldn't have the flushing toilet, the microscope, the printing
press, clocks, eye glasses and spectacles, gunpowder, telescopes, matches, or
submarines. Imagine what life would be if we didn't have these things!
