The Renaissance was the "rebirth" of Italy.  Italy grew and prospered again, and their literature, science, math, art, and architecture advanced.  The Renaissance started because of the people's interest in the old Greek and Roman activities.

Art and Architecture

Michelangelo- He lived in Italy around 1475 to 1564. He contributed many paintings, and inspired other people to make wonderful pieces of art.  His works are still painted today, and are shown to people around the world.  He painted with the new perspective, and used the many details, that go along with the new paintings.  He wasn't only a painter, he also was an architect, a poet, and he made sculptures.    I chose him because he was a wonderful artist.  He painted with great detail, especially when he painted his most famous work, The Sistine Chapel.

Giovanni Palestrina- He was born in 1526 until 1594.  He was one of the most important composers.  He was Italian, and lived in Italy.  He mainly wrote religious works.  He wrote motets, madrigals, and masses. I chose him because he was a wonderful musician, during their time they made many music symbols, and types of songs. He added on to them , and made them sound spectacular.

Literature

Dante Alighieri- He was born in 1264, and died in 1321.  He lived ion Italy. He wrote in Italian, and he considered the people’s language.  He wrote many books and poems, including his most famous The Divine Comedy.  It describes an imaginary journey that he took through the after life, and in it he meets people from his past life.  I chose him because he was a great writer, and when I was on a website, I got to read part of his book, and it was very funny. He must have contributed greatly to his people, and he must of been liked greatly.

Galileo Galilei- He was born in 1564 and die in 1642. He is sometimes referred to “The father of science, astronomy, and physics.”  His achievements include the first systematic studies of uniformly accelerated motion, improvements to the telescope, a variety of astronomical observations, and support for Copericanisum.  I chose him because he has the helped the world to progress and has given the world many great gifts.
