Influential People

Some influential people were the explorers, who brought new ideas, and the artists and architects, who created the buildings, and the things inside the buildings. But I think the most influential people were the artists. One artist in the Renaissance was Leonardo da Vinci. He painted the Mona Lisa.

Some of the scholars were influential too.

Art and Architecture

One famous artist was Michelangelo. He lived in Florence, Italy 1475-1564 and painted really good paintings. Many of his paintings were created for the Roman Catholic Church. One of his paintings for the church was the one on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. He is important and represents Italian Renaissance in many ways. The art became more realistic in the Renaissance. All because of art, the people got into humanism.

Literature

Writing was important in the Renaissance. One writer was Dante Alighieri. Dante, instead of writing in Latin, like the other writers, he wrote in his home language which was Italian. Then, later writers started to use their common language in writing. This was important. Another writer was William Shakespeare. He was a very famous writer who wrote Romeo and Juliet.

Math and Science

Scholars in math created the symbols we use today, like the square root symbol, and positive and negative signs. In science, they thought that the earth was the center of the universe and that the sun revolved around it. They later discover that the sun was the center of the universe and that the earth, and everything else, revolved around it.

How the Renaissance affects us.

The printing press helped us by helping us spread new ideas. The first book printed was the Bible in Latin. Also, William Shakespeare affects us now because he influenced the English language. He was responsible for more than 2,000 English words.
