What was the Renaissance? The word renaissance is a French word meaning rebirth. This period was characterized by artistic, scientific, social, political ideas. These people made new advances in science and the arts. China invented the printing press and reopened trade routes between China and Europe. The world experienced economical, intellectual, and cultural growth.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
It occurred in the 15th and 16th century. This era occurred in Italy, Europe. It began in Florence, Italy and spread through out Europe during the 1300s-1600s.
These people were musicians, artists, scientists, and inventors. This is because most people were interested in music and art. The musicians made music, artists decorated churches made paintings etc., and scientists/inventors tested new items for art work and to make music. They got to entertain and there is no better job than that in life besides doctors which is saving lives. In these actions they are making life more pleasurable. If I could go back I would want to be an inventor, because I could be very wealthy and famous, but not just thatit's because my inventions would help people who needed help. Some inventions I am talking about is like a calculator or a mechanical pencil.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Born in Vinci, Itlay. Da Vinci meant “of Vinci”. He is considered to be one of the greatest painters alive. Painted Mona Lisa Smile. Came up with drawings way ahad of his time. Some of these were the helicopter, tank, calculator, and many others. He died on May 2nd 1519. I chose Mr. Vinci because I'm very interested on how he had the very first ideas of many many modern- day inventions
Giovanni Palestrina (1525-1594) was one of the Renaissance's most important composers. He was born in Palestrina, Italy, but worked and lived in Rome, Italy. He wrote mostly of religious work, such as madrigals, motets, and numerous masses. He represented a big influence on the development of the Roman Catholic Church, and his work can be seen as a summation of Renaissance polyphony. One of his works was the Missa Papae Marcelli. I chose Giovanni Palestrina because he displayed and showed a lot of effort in all of his works.
William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died on 1616.Some people say that he is the greatest writer in the English language ever lived. He is famous for his writings, but he is more famous for his plays. He wrote more than 38 plays, and 154 sonnets. As well as many poems. I chose him because some of his plays are my favorite including Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.
Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa and lived from 1564 to 1642. Galileo was an Italian scientist who found four moons around Jupiter and discovered the telescope. Without him, we would have not discovered some of the scientific events that we have seen today. I chose this person because he is an inspiration to all young scientists. He has made a huge contribution to the world that has helped us greatly. I chose him because I am thankful he made this contribution because it will help us with maybe the 22nd and 23rd generations with maybe making an outer space base or something.
How the Renaissance affects us.
The events, discoveries, and the decisions that were made in the Renaissance have affected us, are the paintings that the famous artists have painted because; we have been researching and finding clues to the paintings that could lead to something bad or good. There are more discoveries that have affected us, which are the writings and plays that the Italian and many other writers wrote. They have affected us because much of the English language is based on the writings, and a very famous writer named William Shakespeare has produced more than 2000 words in this language. This and many other discoveries and decisions have made a huge influence on all of us and including our culture.
