Renaissance means “rebirth” and it refers to the period that followed Europe’s middle Ages.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
It occurred in the 1300s to the 1600s.
The Renaissance occurred in Florence, Italy and spread throughout Europe.
The most influential people during the Renaissance were artists, authors, and anatomy studiers. Artists were influential because many unique paintings were done by many famous people. Authors were influential because they thought carefully about certain subjects and helped us know how to think about such topics on our own. Anatomy studiers were influential during the Renaissance period because they were one of the first to study such topics and give us some ideas on how to study them today. One anatomy studier was Leonardo da Vinci. He studied the human body and drew many humans with great detail in his art.
I picked Leonardo da Vinci because his famous painting, the Mona Lisa, is one of my favorites. He was born on April 15, 1452 and died on May 2, 1519. He was one of the Masters of the High Renaissance. His most famous paintings are the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. I picked Michelangelo because he had many talents. He was born on March 6, 1475 and died on March 18, 1564. He was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet. He lived in Italy. He was able to paint with both hands, and some of his greatest sculptures are David and Moses.
I picked Thomas Tallis because his music was one of the best when he played for four rulers. He lived from 1510-1585 in England. He is best known for his peaceful church music and for the songs he writes about the Virgin Mary. He lived around the time of King Henry VII. Many church goers of his time loved and enjoyed listening to his music.
I picked Niccolo Machiavelli because he wrote about only peace and war. He was born on May 3, 1469 and died on June 21, 1527. He was an Italian political philosopher, musician, poet, and a romantic playwright. He is best known for his famous literature, short book, The Prince. Many politicians were writers during the Renaissance period.
There are no known famous mathematicians during the Renaissance era, but many things were discovered and studied. Such as, ancient math texts, the square root sign, and positive and negative signs. For science I picked Leonardo Da Vinci because he was a brilliant inventor and artist. He studied anatomy and the structure of human bodies.
How the Renaissance affects us.
The Renaissance affects us by showing us many different studies of certain subjects. Such as, William Shakespeare who wrote many different types of literature. Without Christopher Columbus, the Americas would have never been discovered. The Renaissance is important to us today because it has showed us what Renaissance scholars had studied and shows us and what we have to find out more about certain subjects talked about during the Renaissance period.
