What was the Renaissance?

 

Renaissance means “rebirth” and refers to the period that followed Europe’s Middle Ages. The Renaissance was also a period of great achievement.

When and where did the Renaissance begin?

 

The Renaissance occurred around the 1300’s to the 1600’s.

The Renaissance occurred in Florence Italy.

Influential People

 

Some of the most influential people were authors and artists because they were identified mostly by their art and literature. Other influential people were scientists because they discovered that the world was not flat and the entire idea of travel changed.

The sculptor Nicola found a new school of sculpture in Italy.

Music

 

Hildegard von Bingen lived from 1098 to 1179. She produced major works of theology and visionary writings.

Literature

 

One of the famous writers was William Shakespeare, and he wrote the famous play, Romeo and Juliet.

Math and Science

 

On January 22, 1561, Francis Bacon was born. He attended Trinity College Cambridge when he was 12. Sir Francis Bacon was devising a deductive system for empirical research which has earned him the title, "the Father of Modern Science".

How the Renaissance affects us.

 

 The Renaissance is important to us today because we have learned many things from it such as music and ways of painting. One of the biggest changes was travel when they discovered that the world was not flat.
