The word Renaissance means "rebirth" in French. The Renaissance is perfectly described for the era because many intellectual, economic, and cultural changes happened. Many artists, scholars, and scientists wanted to bring back the classical Greek and Roman ideas to move forward in their technology.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The Renaissance flourished through the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries.(1300-1600)
The Renaissance occurred first in Florence, Italy. The city of Florence was a flourishing trade city. Many people traded in Florence, because of its location. Florence is close to to ocean making great access for ships. When trading was booming in Florence, people went to different cites to spread ideas throughout Europe. Also people exchanged ideas at universities throughout Europe.
The most influential people during the Renaissance was the New Middle Class. Before the Renaissance, there was a Middle class that was content with what they had. The New Middle Class had more money. They could buy more food, luxurious homes, and better clothing. The New Middle Class' jobs were improving because of trade.

Leonardo da Vinci lived in Vinci, Italy. He was born April 15, 1452. He painted the Mona Lisa and The Last supper. He designed an early form of tank and the helicopter. In his notebooks, he made many sketches of modern machines. He was one of the greatest inventors in history. I chose Leonardo da Vinci for his wonderful work of The Last Supper. His painting covers an entire wall. Since it is very old, the room is constantly made to a certain temperature. This temperature preserves its natural beatiful.
Maddalena Casulana lived in Siena, Italy. She was born in the year 1544 during the later Renaissance. She is known for her madrigal, a type of musical writing. Maddalena traveled throughout Italy. She dedicated many of her musical songs to people she knew. Numerous people commented on her beautiful music. She was the first female composer to have music printed and published in the history of western music. I chose Maddalena for she opened the door for women to have music in their homes. This also proves that women after her were inspired by her works.
William Shakespeare lived in London, England. He was born April 23, 1564. He made many plays that were dramas, tragedies, comedies, about poetry, and some about history. Shakespeare understood the emotions of humanity, which made his works great. He also made words in his plays, such as lonely. He was responsible for more than 2,000 English words. I chose Shakespeare for he is and important influence to the English language. Without him, people today would not have made great works of figurative language.
Sir Isaac Newton lived Woolsthorpe, England. He was born on Christmas day in the year 1642. He shared his ideas in the field of physics, math, astronomy, natural philosophy, and alchemy. He found out that the people of Earth were held down by an invisible force called gravity. He also made the first reflecting telescope. This telescope, at its time, was an extraordinary feat. It could magnify many times over its original size. I chose Newton for his wonderful works in the fields of science. He dedicated with his work, and I admire his dedication. He was a magnificent scientist, and I hope I can learn some of his techniques
How the Renaissance affects us.
An important event that happened during the Renaissance was the nation of Italy divided into states each having separate kings. A discovery that was found out by Leonardo Da Vinci he drew drawings that were about the anatomy about the human body. An important decision made during the Renaissance was that Nicholas Copernicus found that the world was round, and after he proved his theory everyone agreed with him. During this period they discovered the “Scientific Theory.” We need this to do experiments in steps, instead of doing it in a disheveled way. The Renaissance was the beginning of the modern age. There were many advances in the fields of biology, physics, and anatomy.
