What was
the Renaissance?
The Renaissance was a period in time when
the Greek and Latin ideas and arts were "reborn". In French, "renaissance" means
rebirth. The Renaissance period of time was characterized by scholars, artists,
and scientists. They were trying to bring back the Greek and Latin classical era. The printing press was created, so many books, mainly music books, were being created.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
The Renaissance was between the 13th century and the 16th century. This era of time happened after the European Middle Ages. The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy. Then within time, it spread throughout Europe. While it spread throughout Europe, a ton of ideas were flourishing.
Influential People
The most influential
people during the Renaissance Era were the explorers, scientists, and musicians.
Some other influential people during the Renaissance were artists, authors,
scholars, and philosophers. All these people helped the spread of the
Renaissance. They also helped make the world a newer place. With some certain
inventions, they changed the world.
Art and Architecture
Artists were very
influential people during the Renaissance Era because they would paint pictures
that emphasized the abilities of humans. An example of an artist is Leonardo da
Vinci. Leonardo was born in a small Italian village called Vinci. He was born in
1452. While Leonardo was alive, he moved throughout Italy. Leonardo was a true
genius. He made many contributions because people thought he was such a genius.
He brought many wonderful ideas into the world. He is a genius because he was a
wonderful artist, a sculptor, and he was an architect and an engineer. Leonardo
da Vinci was also a inventor. Leonardo da Vinci was a very

Musicians were influential because they would spread the Christian beliefs by song. They spread the ideas throughout Italy and the rest of Europe. One influential musician was Giovanni Palestrina. Giovanni Palestrina was born on March 4, 1525, and he died on February 2, 1594. He was born in Palestrina, a small town near Rome. Giovanni was a composer. His contributions to the Renaissance Era were all of his wonderful music pieces. During the Renaissance, most of the music was sacred. After a while, throughout the years, the music became secular.
Literature
Some influential people who were into
Literature are scholars. However, William Shakespeare was one of the most
influential writers of all time. Shakespeare was born in 1564, and he died in
1616. William Shakespeare was born in the city of Stratford-upon-Avon.
William Shakespeare wrote many plays and books. His plays are known world wide.
William also created about 2,000 of the words in the English language.

Scholars and scientists were influential
because the scholars would teach people, and then everyone would learn different
things. That way, everyone had a good education. Scientists were influential
because they would experiment, and they learned new things everyday. Robert
Boyle is one important scientist. He was born in 1627 and died in 1691. He was
born in Lismore Castle, in a province in Ireland. Robert Boyle was an inventor,
he invented the match. Without the match, we would not be able to quickly light
anything. We would have to find two rocks, and we would try to make a fire from
that.
How the Renaissance affects us?
The printing press was
one of the inventions that effected us. It put the Bible in our hands.
Then it made everyone want to read, and so now everyone reads books and other
stuff. Also, in the Renaissance, there were more universities. The thought of
Universities has affected the whole world because now, if you want to get a good
job, you have to have a good education, and you get good education from
universities.
