What was the Renaissance?

Renaissance means "rebirth" in French and refers to the period that followed Europe's Middle Ages. It is characterized by scholars, artists, and scientists building on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make advances in science and the arts. With the invention of the printing press and reopening trade routes between China and Europe, the world experienced economic, intellectual, and cultural growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.

Influential People

The most influential groups were artists, musicians, teachers, and scientists. All these groups were important to the Renaissance because the time period for the Renaissance was all about music, art, science, and education. They studied techniques and created new ones that improved the status of art, literature, education, and science. This made Renaissance a period to look back on and use their information to improve our lives today.

Art and Architecture

Leonardo da Vinci lived in Italy from 1452 to 1519. Leonardo made the contribution of great art and made some of the finest works of art in the modern world. Some of the works he made were the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. He made a huge contribution to the modern world of art and helped  develop new techniques that improve our modern art. I chose to write about him because he is a role model to all artists in the world. Leonardo was the genius of his time and is recognized as a mastermind artist.

Music

Guillaume Dufay lived in Bersele, Belgium from 1397 to 1474. Guillaume made many works and a few of them are 22 motets, 3 Magnificants, and 27 hymns. His works are somewhat well-known, but unlike other musicians, he has a unique style like no other. I chose Guillaume because he is a good music writer and made many musical pieces in his lifetime.

Literature

William Shakespeare lived in Stratford from 1564 to 1616. William wrote many plays and poems, much of which are now famous. Some of the famous plays are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Many of his plays are performed all over the world and are still quite popular today. I chose William because he is one of the most famous play writers to have ever lived. I admire his work and love the play A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Math and Science

Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa and lived from 1564 to 1642. Galileo was an Italian scientist who found four moons around Jupiter and discovered the telescope. Without him, we would have not discovered some of the scientific events that we have seen today. I chose this person because he is an inspiration to all young scientists. He has made a huge contribution to the world that has helped us greatly. I am thankful he made this contribution because it will help us all with many things.

How the Renaissance affects us.

An event that happened in the Renaissance is that artists, musicians, and teachers worked to improve their systems and make it enhanced for all people. A discovery of the telescope by Galileo affected us because without the telescope, we probably would not have made the discoveries that we have today. A decisions that have affected us is that many people decided that art, music, and education were most important to us, and the period revolved around these three things. The Renaissance is important to us today because it gives us an understanding of how others lived. It is also important because it gave us many events, and we have developed more modern technology using their ideas and inventions. This time has helped us greatly in the modern world today,  and we will continue to refer to the Renaissance period for much more help in the technology of today's world.
