What was the Renaissance?

The Renaissance means "rebirth" in French. This period was characterized because it was a traditional time when they went back and made this period like the Greeks and Romans. Hence the name "rebirth", this refers to the rebirth of the old times. It is also characterized by its scholars, artists, and scientists building on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and art. With the invention of the printing press and reopening the trade route between China and Europe, the world experienced economic, intellectual, and cultural growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.

How the Renaissance affects us

The printing press made it faster and easier for people to work during the Renaissance. This evolved to our modern day printers. Advances in education were important events that affect us today. During the Renaissance teachers that started to teach didn’t have to be part of the church. That is what it is like now. Our teachers don’t have to be apart of the church either. In the field of art, changes also took place. The artists discovered ways to make the art look 3D. This is called perspective. This discovery led us to know how to make pictures or paintings look like real life. The Renaissance is important to us today because many famous works of art and sculpture happened during that time period. There were many changes in school and education that made a difference in daily life. That is why the Renaissance is important to us. It made a difference in history and made many advances that we couldn’t do without.
