Influential People

Some of the most influential people in the Renaissance were artists and writers because most of the renaissance was about art, and literature. Also the middle class people that had more money so they can buy paper, a printing press, watch plays and do many more things than those who do not have as many money.

Art and Architecture

One of the most popular artist during the Renaissance time was Michelangelo. He designed buildings, wrote poetry, carved sculptures, and painted magnificent pictures.  He lived from 1475-1564 in Tuscany. One of his most famous pieces of work was the sculpture David and the Holy Family with St. John the Baptist. I chose Michelangelo because I admire his work on the Sistine Chapel in Europe. I think it is very pretty and beautiful.

Music

Johannes Ockeghem lived from 1410-1497 in France and Belgium. He is best known for his masses and his large scales forms. Johannes wrote motets, masses and chansons. He is known for his bass voice. I chose him because he wrote both sacred and secular music and I like both of them. If he was not part of the Renaissance we would not have as many music artists and musicals that we have today. I also chose Johannes Ockeghm because he introduced many forms of music and we wouldn't have as much music as we have today.

Literature

One of the most important writers is William Shakespeare. He lived from 1564 – 1616 in Warwickshire, England. One of his most well-known plays is Hamlet. Hamlet is a tragedy and is the most quoted play in the English Language. I chose him because without him we would not have many books, plays or movies that we have today.

Math and Science

Galileo Galilei lived from 1564-1642 in Venice, Italy. He was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher. Galileo invented the telescope and first made one with 3x magnification then 32x magnifications. He was one of the first people to observe the planets and the moon. I chose him because I like planets and learning about the moon. I chose Galileo because we would not have known how to make tings magnified and we would not be as high in technology as we are today.

How the Renaissance affects us.

The Renaissance is important to us today because without it we would not have known much about the planets that Galileo had observed and would not have very much classical, secular, and sacred music. It is also important so we can learn about it and the people that made changes during the renaissance era.
