Renaissance” means rebirth. It followed Europe’s Middle Ages. The period was characterized by scholars, artists, and scientist building on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and arts. With the invention of the printing press and reopening trade roots between China and Europe, the world experienced economic, intellectual and cultural growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.
When and where did the Renaissance begin?
It began in Florence, Italy and spread throughout Europe during the 1300s through the 1600s. The Renaissance occurred when Europe emerged from the economic stagnation of the Middle Ages and experienced a time of financial growth. The Renaissance occurred in Medieval Europe.
The most influential people during the Renaissance were the Medici family who were bankers and were in control of Florence. Other people who were influential were scholars who traveled and learned and got ideas from other people.
Art and Architecture- (1475-1564) Michelangelo was a painter, sculptor, and architect. He was a very good inventor. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci were the inventors of their time and were both good artists. He used perspective where he made the people in the background look smaller by using colors also. I chose Michelangelo because he was a great artist of his time and he is a great role model.
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was an Italian composer. He was the most famous composer of the sixteenth century. He was the representative of the Roman School of musical composition. He was a major part of the Roman Catholic Church and their music. I chose him because he was an Italian composer and I wanted to learn more about my culture.
Niccolo Machiavelli was a famous writer and poet who wrote “The Prince” his famous nove;. He encouraged rulers how to rule their countries. He grew up near Florence. I chose him because he was a great leader. He gave advice to rulers on how to run their countries.
Leonardo de Vinci was an Italian polymath and was raised in Vinci, Italy. He was greatly known for his fields of anatomy and the study of water. He was a smart man overall. He was involved with math, science, and art/ architecture. He drew the Mona Lisa and was the greatest inventor of his time. He is called the " Renaissance Man." I chose Leonardo because he was the " Renaissance Man." He was a great inventor and I think it is a great thing.
How the Renaissance affects us
Renaissance affects us because all the inventions are in our world today. We are all used to it. In art and architecture we used the inventor ideas today are in a lot of modern neighbors today. In music many musicians have changed the music. Before in the Renaissance they were just starting music but now they have made music better and it sounds nicer. In math and science they made a lot of advances for today. They made up many knew ideas and for science they found out many things for us today.
It was influential to us in art/ architecture, music, literature, and math and science.
