What was the Renaissance?

                     It is French for “Rebirth.” It is characterized by scholars, artists, and scientist building

          on classical Greek and Roman ideas to make new advances in science and the arts.

        With the invention of the printing press and reopening trade routes in China and Europe, the experienced economic, intellectual and culture growth. Also, the emphasis on people as individuals was a new concept.

Art and Architecture

       Leon Battista Alberti

Leon Battista Alberta is a Greek architect,

who was known as the father of architecture

who was born in Greece 1404

who studied math, architecture, philosophy,

law, art and music.

I like him because he is talented.

Johann Sebastian Bach

       Johann S. Bach lived 1685-1750.  He was German composer who wrote sacred and secular music. He works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments. He drew together the strands of the Baroque period and brought it to its ultimate maturity. I chose him because I like his music.

John Skelton

John Skelton was born in 1460’s.

 He family originated from Yorkshire

and went to the University of Cambridge.

 He advanced to the title of 'poet laureate'. I chose him because I like poetry too.

Math and Science

Nicolaus Copernicus

    Nicolaus Copernicus was the first European astronomer to formulate a modern heliocentric theory of the solar system. Meaning, he was the first one who said that the earth revolves around the sun. I like him because I like science, too. (not so much math, though.)
