Benjamin Harrison

I will Be writing about the Twenty Third president, Benjamin Harrison.  Benjamin Harrison was born in North Bend, Ohio on August 20, 1833.  After studying law for two years he graduated from Miami University in 1852.  In  1854 He moved to Indianapolis to begin legal practice in law.  On October 20,1853, he married Caroline Lavina Scott, they had two children.  In 1857 to 1862 he went from the attorney to secretary of the Republican State Committee to reporter for the Indiana Supreme Court. He was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in February 1865. In 1881 Benjamin was elected to the senate.  In 1892 people began to look at Harrison as a "lame duck" and could not help lead them to victory in the Presidential election. He married his niece, Mary Scott Lord Dimmick on April 6, 1896. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Harrison.  Harrison died in Indianapolis in 1899.Nicknames like "Kid Gloves " and "Little Ben" were names given by political rivals.
