Millard Fillmore

Millard Fillmore was the13th president of the United States. He became President when he was Vice President when Zachary Taylor died. In his Presidency He admitted California into the Union and made New Mexico a territory. He also appointed Benjamin Robert Curtis to the Supreme Court. His Presidency is probably best known for sending Commodore Mathew Perry to Japan, which reopened Japan to the Western world. Most of his Presidency was based on expanding the U.S.' size and contacts. One important event of his life was the war of 1812
