Andrew Johnson

Andrew Johnson is different in his own way. For example, he didn't go to school, but his wife( whom he was very dedicated) taught him to write and improved his reading and spelling. Even though he wasn't educated at all, he was still the best debater in his community (Greenville), Johnson became the leader of his group in opposition to the slaveholding aristocracy. He was born on December 29, 1808. Andrew then became was the seventeenth president of the united states of America in 1865. He was a democrat and before he became president he was a tailor. In his lifetime he has served as a senate, mayor, congressman, governor of Tennessee, and the vice president. He was the first president to be impeached. As president, he took charge of the Presidential Reconstruction. He later retired from the position of presidency in 1869. It sounds like Andrew Johnson was a pretty good president.
