Millard Fillmore was the twelfth Vice President of the United States. He later became the  thirteenth President of the United States after President Zachary Taylor suddenly died of illness in 1850. His term lasted from 1850-1853.   He is remembered for signing the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1850 and becoming one of the few vice presidents that became president after the president died while in office. Some significant historical events in his life time was the Civil War (after his presidency) and the state of California being admitted into the Union (he admitted California while he was president).
