Born November 25, 1881.
He had peasant Italian parents. 
Named Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli.
Ordained a priest in 1904 when he was 23 years old.
In World War I he was in the medical corp.

In 1953 he was made a Cardinal.
On October 28, 1958 he was elected Pope.
He advanced cooperation with other religions.
He forbade parties that supported communism.
He Started Vatican II Oct 11, 1962, but he died before he could see it completed. He died June 3, 1963.
