George Washington

George Washington's significant historical events during his lifetime and President "regime", helped shape what his presidency is remembered for today. Before becoming America's first President, George Washington served as a General during the Revolutionary War. The battle that was most memorable in the Revolutionary War's history was General George Washington defeating a British general, General Cornwallis, at the Battle of Yorktown. The significance of this battle was that it made the British capitulate and ended the Revolutionary War. Six years later, George Washington's renown and achievements became known all over America. Because of this, George Washington presides the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia where he was encouraged to become President of the United States. One year later, this suggestion became a reality. During his reign, Washington made many renovations to the United States. Some of which was declaring the first Thanksgiving Day, praises the Hebrew Congregation as equal citizens, and signed treaties that allowed more exploration. As a result, George Washington's historical events, from being a general in the Revolutionary War to making the first changes made by a President, President George Washington will always be remembered as the First President of the United States who carried out the legacy and motives from which the first immigrants came to America for.
