President Chester Alan Arthur was the twenty-first president of the United States. Some significant event during his life was standard oil was created, the Chinese Exclusion Act and the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act were passed, and there was the Civil Rights Cases. His presidency is remembered for him signing the Pendleton Act and he was one of the most social-conscious presidents. Also he became president after James Garfield died.
