President Zachary Taylor

President Zachary Taylor was the twelfth president. Significant historical events in his life time are that he was nicknamed "Old Rough and Ready", he was the first president not previously elected to another public office, he was involved in the Compromise and he was part of the Whig political party. He is remembered for being military hero after participating in the Mexican-American War.
