James Monroe

    James Monroe was the fifth president of the United States.  He was born on April 28th, 1758 in Virginia.  Before becoming the president, he was the Minister of France, Virginia state Legislature, and governor of Virginia.  He was elected President in 1816.  He is remembered for the "Monroe Doctrine."
