Dwight Eisenhower

Dwight Eisenhower was born October 28, 1890 in Texas.  He did well in school but excelled greatly in sports. After high school, he enrolled in WestPoint Military Academy in 1915. In 1916 he married Mary "Mamie" Geneva Doud and in 1922 he had his first son. After the attack on pearl harbor in 1943, Eisenhower was promoted to Brigadier General .He became the supreme commander of the D-day invasion and all Allied forces in Europe in 1944. In 1950, he lead the campaign during the Korean war and two years later, he became the 34th president.  During his presidency, he tried to reduce the strains with the Soviet Union. At the time, the U.S. and the Soviet Union were in the Cold War. In 1956, he was elected for his second term. During his second term he Desegregated the army. He died on March 28 1969
