President Gerald Rudolph Ford

    President Gerald Rudolph Ford was the 38th president. In 1941, he graduated from Yale Law. In 1942 he joined the US Naval Reserve.  He was a House Minority Leader for the Republican party from 1965 to 1973. Nixon nominated Ford to serve as vice president. In 1974, when Nixon resigned,  Ford became the first unelected president in 1974. Also in 1974, A New York governor became Ford's Vice President.  His first goal as President was to curb inflation, and during his first 14 months as President, he vetoed 39 measures. Also, in 1974 he granted full pardon to Nixon for any crimes he did during his term of President. Ford's greatest success as President was that for 2 in a half years, he showed that the presidency could be administered by responsible people.
